Assessment Item 1: Annotated Bibliography

Assessment Item 1: Annotated Bibliography
Objective:
To produce an annotated bibliography on an engineering research topic using up-to-date literature.
A brief description of the task:
In this assessment task you will be required to conduct a literature search on a self-proposed topic within the
scope of engineering to produce an annotated bibliography. This bibliography will be based on the systematic
and explicit identification, evaluation and interpretation of the existing engineering research related to your topic.
In order to be successful, you will: demonstrate digital literacy skills, access the most relevant and up-to-date
literature associated with your topic and disseminate it in a fashion which clearly and explicitly discusses the
literature found. When conducting this work, you should primarily consider content from peer-reviewed journal
and conference articles; however, you may also consult: patents, government manuals and reports, authentic
internet resources, various standards (including Australian standards) and published posters, provided they are
credible sources and their use can be justified. Your paper should demonstrate the correct use of citations and
a subsequent reference list, according to engineering research standards.
This assessment item should form the basis for your research toward preparing Assessment Item 2. It is
strongly advised that you work on both assessment items simultaneously.
The marks for Assessment Item 1 will be broken down as follows:
Introduction (200 words)
Has introduced an engineering topic well and concisely (only introduces 1 topic, uses literature, is
pitched at an appropriate level) – 3 marks
Written using appropriate technical language – 1.5 marks
Is of appropriate length – 0.5 marks
Each Bibliography Item (100 words each) (1 mark each – 10 marks total)
Introduction sentence which clearly states the aim of the paper (0.2 marks)
A clear description of the methodology the paper employs (0.2 marks)
A short discussion of the contribution the paper made to the field (0.3 marks)
The paper is relevant to the topic and is appropriate (i.e. up-to-date and from a credible resource)
(0.2 marks)
The item is of appropriate length (100 words) (0.1 marks)
Assessment Item 1 is worth 15
% of the total assessment for this unit.
What you need to do:
You are required to submit an individual paper which clearly identifies an engineering research area through a
quality introduction and the review of 10 credible and relevant articles. Ten articles will need to be reviewed
and should be referenced correctly and consistently using a recognised style (i.e. Harvard, APA or IEEE).

Assessment requirements:
This assignment is to be undertaken individually.
Make sure that any analysis you present is your own work and not simply a summary of what is presented
in the source or reference materials.
Be critical in your identification and analysis of information.
Use figures and tables sparingly and only if necessary.
Use a basic and common font (i.e. Arial or Times New Roman).
Use an appropriate font size (10 or 12 pt).
Adhere to the word limit (100 ± 20% per bibliographic item and 200 ± 20% for the introduction) and be
concise.
All references must be relevant to the topic.
Your submission should be in a simple text-based format, without headings.
It is highly recommended that you familiarise yourself with the marking scheme shown above
Similarly, you are strongly encouraged to engage with the teaching staff during the seminar times to
obtain feedback on your progress.
Submission deadline:
Your paper must be submitted via CloudDeakin by 11:59 pm Monday the 26th of March. You may submit your
paper in either .doc, .docx or .pdf format. Hard copies or other electronic file formats will not be accepted.

Should pit bull terriers be banned in my community

Discussion Forum: Counterarguments (Should pit bull terriers be banned in my community) You created a question about the topic for your W6 Rough Draft. For this discussion, you will give an answer to that question in the form of a thesis statement. "Dieting Makes People Fat" Main Post: Share your thesis statement with your classmates. Please note: As with last week’s discussion, nothing here is set in stone. Be open to changing everything about your topic, including your position and audience, as you research it and get feedback from your classmates. Topic + Position/Purpose + Supporting Points =Thesis Statement Example: Suppose the question you posed in the Week 5 discussion was something like, “Should pit bull terriers be banned in my community?” After doing some preliminary research, you have concluded that pit bulls, if raised properly, are no more dangerous than other breeds of dogs. Your thesis statement can be something like, “Pitbulls should not be banned

Controversy Associated With Dissociative Disorders

Assignment: Controversy Associated With Dissociative Disorders The  DSM-5-TR  is a diagnostic tool. It has evolved over the decades, as have the classifications and criteria within its pages. It is used not just for diagnosis, however, but also for billing, access to services, and legal cases. Not all practitioners are in agreement with the content and structure of the  DSM-5-TR , and dissociative disorders are one such area. These disorders can be difficult to distinguish and diagnose. There is also controversy in the field over the legitimacy of certain dissociative disorders, such as dissociative identity disorder, which was formerly called multiple personality disorder. In this Assignment, you will examine the controversy surrounding dissociative disorders. You will also explore clinical, ethical, and legal considerations pertinent to working with patients with these disorders. Note that this is a working document and may be modified based on insights gained in module eight and your professor's feedback. This document should contain the following elements: Summary of your problem or opportunity definition A list of possible recommendation alternatives. In this section, you are not yet at the point of suggesting the best set of recommendations but you are trying to be creative and explore all the different ways that the problem or opportunity might best be addressed. The end result here will be a list of alternatives among which you will choose your final recom
