EVENT CONCEPT

This event concept would entail various details about the event.

What: The main motive of the event is to report about the activities of the previous year to the members, form advice and policies and decide on the stances to be taken for the next year (“National congress”, 2019).

Where: The event is planned to be conducted at a 5-star property the Intercontinental Hotel which is located on Macquarie Street in the heart of the CBD of Sydney and the hotel conference hall would have adequate seating capacity for the people and this venue would make the presentation of the facts in an easy way. The budget set for the venue is about 175000$ and out of this 70000$ has been allocated to the closing gala. This place would also be proximate to the parking and to public transport.

When: The event would commence at 9 AM on 14th October and would finish on 15th October 2018

Who: The event would be attended by about 200 Torres and Aboriginal Strait Islander delegates from all over Australia which would include cultural leaders, academics, professional members and leaders.

Why: The event would be kept extremely culturally sensitive to all the Aboriginal nations and at the same time along with thanking the members would provide the members with an opportunity to unwind themselves (McKinley, 2017).

EVENT THEME

The main theme of the event is decided to be based on different cultures of Aboriginal people. So the costumes would be provided to the delegates to be worn by them and the food served at the event would also be altered as per varied cultures. Various dances would also be performed to represent such cultures. This would help in engaging and in capturing the attention of the people with a meaningful and positive experience. All the décor in the hotel would be colorful. This way an emotional connection would be created through the event as it would appeal to all the five senses of the delegates. Not only this the event to showcase the best of Torres Strait and Aboriginal culture, a keynote indigenous speaker is being chosen, Adam Goodes who is a dual Brownlow medalist and he would present at the gala event of the Congress. The Board has also planned to not offer alcohol so as to show the cultural respect but a cash bar would remain open.

EVENT PLAN

The event plan is to provide a lifetime experience to all the attendees which they would remember throughout their life. The idea is that the Board hosts an inspiring, unique, fun-filled event so that the past year’s achievements can be celebrated and the members along with that could be thanked at the end of tow say Congress for showing their support in these two years. Besides this, it is also seen as an opportunity to make use of fundraising element in the event (“Corporate Event Planning”, 2015). The main direction of the activities of Congress for the year has been set along with many expectations of funding for the year. This year Sydney has been set strategically as the location for this two-day Congress meet as the directors want to showcase the best things which are being known about Sydney. This would help in gathering more funds for the development of Aboriginal people. This way the event would be successful. The details of the event are being informed later on and the main highlights of the event would be welcome of the guests, visit important places in Sydney, thanking the members and informing them that how their help has aided the Aboriginal people. Towards the end, the event would be hosted by the above-stated host who would thank the guests and end the event on a lively note (Mercer, 1993).
