HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL ALIGNMENT 250-300 words
Define SHRM and explain how vertical fit between a company’s strategy and its HR strategy, and horizontal fit between te HR strategy and the HR functions such as recruitment, performance management, rewards, learning and voice. You may cite the example we did in class comparing Google to Ikea, or the example I put in your Scans on vertical versus horizontal fit.

THREE SHRM MODELS 350 words
(ii) Critically evaluate, compare and contrast, the theoretical basis and models of SHRM. You should explain, critically analyse the strategic perspectives of Best fit/Contingency, Best Practice/Universalist and Resource Based View, (RBV).
Compare, contrast and evaluate (stating benefits and weaknesses) of the three SHRM approaches. Being critical is good since Best practice suggests one right way and Fit suggests no right way, in other words the models, although based on research, conflict.

(iii) Your work will then critically evaluate the specific HR practices of Performance Management and Reward. You will make recommendations to propose how you could design/re-design a performance management system, to support Organisational Development and Change.
