1ST. ASSIGNMENTS (150 WORDS)
For this journal, you will explore yourself as a cultural being. This journal has 2 Parts: 1. First I want you to think about your actions today and describe the way in which culture has influenced your thoughts and behaviors. Provide in exhaustive detail how the way in which how you've lived your life (just today) has been influenced by culture. Remember the more mundane, the better! Then reflect on how individualistic you really are. 2. Second, identify a subculture that you belong to. Describe the elements that make up the subculture being sure to include the material and non-material (including symbols, values, and norms) culture associated with it. Is your subculture a counter-culture? Why/why not?
2ND ASSIGNMENTS (ESSAY)
If you could start your own business, what business would you choose? Is it something based on your favorite hobby? A current family business? Something you were always interested in?
For this assignment, imagine that you have the opportunity to create your own business. Describe the business, give it a business name and then select which type of ownership structure you would choose . Explain why you would choose that option as your best option and then describe what the next best option would be and why that could be a reasonable alternative if your first choice could not work.
For example, you may want to start a student tutoring company called Stutors. You would prefer a sole proprietorship but could foresee the possibility of setting up as a partnership. You would describe (in one paragraph or less) what the purpose of the business was and then explain why being a sole proprietorship is your best or preferred option. Then go on to explain why becoming a partnership may be the next best option (such as you have to find a partner to supply the funding or you need more than one tutor, etc.).
