Select an issue/problem that you have a professional interest in. Example: Disparities in rural health care

The ICP is the culminating academic endeavor of nursing students who earn a baccalaureate degree in nursing from Ohio University. The project provides students with the opportunity to explore a problem or issue of particular professional interest that is somehow related to one of the following nursing QSEN competencies: patient-centered care, teamwork/collaboration, evidence based practice, quality improvement, safety or informatics (QSEN: http://www.qsen.org). Each of the QSEN competencies somehow link to nursing excellence. For your project you will need to:

1. Select an issue/problem that you have a professional interest in. Example: Disparities in rural health care

2. Select a QSEN competency that relates to that problem. Example: Example: EBP

3. Select a health care organization that can help support your issue: Example: IOM

4. Develop a global objective: Example: At the completion of this project I will have developed a Journal Club for nursing education related to health care disparities.

5. Develop at least four project objectives: Example:

a. I will develop a survey to be sent out to all health care providers related to knowledge of disparities.

b. I will distribute survey to all health care providers.

c. I will review survey results and present to Nursing Operations Manager (NOM).

d. I will develop a monthly calendar of topics based on the survey results with NOM approval.

6. Develop possible resources needed to help meet your goals/objectives.

a. Meet with educator or physician champion to research need for education of health disparities.

b. Review IOM Quality Chasm and to Err is Human reports for resource date.

c. Meet with NOM to approve project plan.

d. Meet with research methodologist to help develop survey.

This assignment is the first of five assignments to complete your Indirect Clinical Project (ICP). Each weekly assignment will build upon the last one. It is very important that you follow the directions carefully and review your teachers document/grading rubric for comments so that you can improve each week.

Project Topic: Give a brief explanation of your topic.

My topic is:

“Falls prevention in an impatient rehabilitation unit for patients over 60 years old”

I work at a long term and rehabilitation facility as a restorative nurse .One of our big challenges is to prevent falls in the rehab unit. We have usually 40-42 patients and the length of stay varies from one to six months. Almost every week we have at least one fall occurrence with some kind of injury.

I can relate all the QSEN to my topic, but two are really important: Safety and Evidenced- Based Practice.

Discuss Health Care Organization (may be a nursing organization) that will help support your project. Discussion should include the mission/values of the organization (in your own words). Provide citations and references (no direct quotes).

One of the health care organizations that can help me to accomplish my project is Association of rehabilitation nurses. This organization has a mission to promote and enhance quality of life of those affected by disability and chronic illness. It counts with more than 5,600 members very involved in their mission. There are many supportive resources and evidenced based practice information that can be used in many care settings such as inpatient rehabilitation units to help prevent falls.

(Do Not Use Any Abbreviations)

Should pit bull terriers be banned in my community

Discussion Forum: Counterarguments (Should pit bull terriers be banned in my community) You created a question about the topic for your W6 Rough Draft. For this discussion, you will give an answer to that question in the form of a thesis statement. "Dieting Makes People Fat" Main Post: Share your thesis statement with your classmates. Please note: As with last week’s discussion, nothing here is set in stone. Be open to changing everything about your topic, including your position and audience, as you research it and get feedback from your classmates. Topic + Position/Purpose + Supporting Points =Thesis Statement Example: Suppose the question you posed in the Week 5 discussion was something like, “Should pit bull terriers be banned in my community?” After doing some preliminary research, you have concluded that pit bulls, if raised properly, are no more dangerous than other breeds of dogs. Your thesis statement can be something like, “Pitbulls should not be banned

Controversy Associated With Dissociative Disorders

Assignment: Controversy Associated With Dissociative Disorders The  DSM-5-TR  is a diagnostic tool. It has evolved over the decades, as have the classifications and criteria within its pages. It is used not just for diagnosis, however, but also for billing, access to services, and legal cases. Not all practitioners are in agreement with the content and structure of the  DSM-5-TR , and dissociative disorders are one such area. These disorders can be difficult to distinguish and diagnose. There is also controversy in the field over the legitimacy of certain dissociative disorders, such as dissociative identity disorder, which was formerly called multiple personality disorder. In this Assignment, you will examine the controversy surrounding dissociative disorders. You will also explore clinical, ethical, and legal considerations pertinent to working with patients with these disorders.
