ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES AND FORESTRY
Questions for Seminar Two slides: Topic – Climate and Energy
1. What is energy? Describe it in your own words and give examples of the energies that are Renewable and Non-Renewable. (SLO 14)
2. Identify your state and the top three energy sources. Explain how the main source of energy for your state is converted into energy, and how that reaches homes. (SLO 14, 15)
3. What does energy cost your state? Include examples of a) financial costs, b) environmental costs, and c) personal health costs. Describe three (3) ways that you can save energy at home or work as related to your ecological footprint. Be sure to include the impact that conservation effort could make. (SLO 1, 14, 15)
4.Compare and contrast weather and climate. Describe the climate of your region. What seasonal variations cause changes in energy use in your region? How does the climate and seasonal energy use relate to climate change? (SLO 9)
5. Discuss how a) climate and b) energy use, interact positively and negatively in the natural system in your region. Include two (2) examples of the climate change that could be coming to your area. (SLO 9)
6. Create a hypothesis of the type of renewable energy that would be best suited to your state. Find two (2) articles that would support this hypothesis. Find one article that suggests that some other renewable energy source might also be appropriate. What renewable energy source would you conclude is best and why? (SLO 1)
Be sure to summarize the various items you learned and list your references.
Include an abstract for the questions listed above and a conclusion.
