The Essay must be a response to the following topic: WHAT WAS THE IMPACT OF THE TRANS-ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE ON AFRICAN PEOPLES? In order to answer this it is required that you read the 2nd edition of AFRICA AND THE WEST: A DOCUMENTARY HISTORY, VOLUME 1: FROM THE SLAVE TRADE TO CONQUEST, 1441-1905 by: William H. Worger, Nancy L. Clark, and Edward A. Alpers. It is only required that you read pages: 57-66, 69-85, and 103-111. In the essay you MUST use the the primary sources in Worgers, Clark, and Alpers and demonstrate an awareness of potential biases in these sources. You should also have a clearly stated thesis in the introductory paragraph of the paper. Your paper should then proceed by providing information with which to support your thesis. The paper should be in 12 point font, with margins either 1” or 1.25”. Ensure, in particular, that you cite your sources, and do so correctly. There is a link to the Chicago Manual of Style on the course website which will help you with your footnotes/citations, although any accepted style of citation (MLA, etc.) is fine.
