Write a partial paper draft of your Comparative Literary Analysis Essay. Remember, you can choose toanalyze any two of the following primary works: William Faulkner’s “The Bear,” Toni Morrison’s Sula,Richard Power’s The Echo Maker, Paolo Bacigalupi’s The Windup Girl, and Cormac McCarthy’s TheRoad.Your partial paper draft should at minimum:
1. Introduction Paragraph: Need to provide an introduction paragraph that starts with anattention grabber, identifies the authors/directors and the texts you will analyze. As well, youwill want to provide a brief one or two sentence summary of the poem, story, or novel you willanalyze. Most importantly, you must tell your reader what point you will be proving and howyou will prove it (thesis statement)
.2. Body Paragraphs: Need to provide three body paragraphs. Each body paragraph needs toinclude a topic sentence that directly correlates to the thesis statement / argument of the paper,textual evidence (i.e. quotes) with appropriate quote integration, detailed analysis and/orexplication of the quotes you are using for support, and citation of quotes (author, page numbersin quotes / MLA format.
3. Optional Conclusion: Your conclusion allows you to have the final say on the issues you haveraised in your paper, to synthesize your thoughts, to demonstrate the importance of your ideas,and to propel your reader to a new view of the subject. However, this is difficult to do withoutwriting your paper and proving your argument first. Therefore, providing a concludingparagraph in your partial paper draft is optional.
4. Spelling, Punctuation, and Mechanics: Need few or no syntactical or grammatical errors, wellproofread, the use of the present and present perfect tenses in your analysis of literary quotes.
