Mgt 360- Paper
This paper should be approximately 5-6 pages (could be longer or shorter), including bibliography, double spaced, and uploaded to Moodle. Half of your paper grade will be based on your writing skills/grammar, and the other half will be based on the thoroughness and thoughtfulness of your content.
You do not need to include an executive summary. However, this paper has been assigned to also increase your information literacy capability. Therefore, you must cite anything you quote or summarize/paraphrase from any sources you use and create a bibliography using APA or MLA Citing Style.
You are also required to use two additional resources, other than our class textbook and PowerPoints, to discuss Question 2 and Question 3. That means you should use at least one additional resource for Q.2 and a second additional resource for Q.3. The required additional resources must relate to, or help make clear, the theories you use. To be more specific, the two outside resources that will be scored should only be used for the purpose of highlighting and/or exemplifying your discussion of leadership and motivation theories. Using outside resources to provide additional information about the leader you have chosen is allowed (e.g., a quote by Martin Luther King Jr.). However, those resources will not be counted in your final score for your discussion on the chosen leader.
Assignment
Please choose One individual that you believe exemplifies excellent leadership. This person could be someone living or dead from the realms of history, the military, government, business, non-profit or even spiritual. OR you can choose a person, who exemplifies excellence in leadership that you know well, like a family member, friend, manager or colleague.
- With this individual in mind, please describe what specific leadership characteristics, traits and values this person has that you believe makes him or her a successful leader – 10 Points
- Describe at least two very clear, specific examples of this person’s leadership in action (something she or he has accomplished), that demonstrates his/her leadership talent. Along with sharing at least two examples of this individual’s leadership in action, please also connect how this person leads using one or a combination of the leadership theories reviewed in Chapter 14 and/or discussed in class (including power points). Moreover, you must also use at least one additional reputable source, in addition to our class textbook and PowerPoints, when discussing leadership theory/theories – 16 Points
- How would you describe how this individual motivates others (could be employees, colleagues, friends, manager(s) or family members) to accomplish goals, and again, please connect how this person motivates others using one or a combination of motivation theories reviewed in Chapter 16, and/or during the class discussion (including PowerPoints). Moreover, you must also use at least one additional reputable source, in addition to our class textbook and PowerPoints, when discussing motivation theory/theories – 13 Points
* A total of 6 points can be added or deducted due to writing style and structure errors.
** A total of 5 points can be added or deducted depending on your appropriate usage of outside resources and using those in context with the theories you are discussing.
Total = 50 points consisting of 3 Questions plus writing style/structural errors and citing resources
45-50 Points – excellent writing skills and outstanding discussion and analysis of content
40-44 Points – good to very good writing skills and strong discussion and analysis of content
36-40 Points – satisfactory writing skills and average discussion and analysis of content
Below 36 Points – unsatisfactory writing skills and /or below average discussion and analysis of content.
