Purpose and Primary Research Question The article addresses an argument put forth by Jean Lau Chin and Janis Sanchez-Hucles (2007) and provides support for the argument for a multidimensional investigation of leadership rather than the narrowly focused one-dimensional approaches that characterize much of the current literature surrounding leadership, particularly as it relates to diversity (Pegues& Cunningham, 2010).
Purpose and Primary Research Question
The article addresses an argument put forth by Jean Lau Chin and Janis Sanchez-Hucles (2007) and provides support for the argument for a multidimensional investigation of leadership rather than the narrowly focused one-dimensional approaches that characterize much of the current literature surrounding leadership, particularly as it relates to diversity (Pegues& Cunningham, 2010).
Assessment the research design
The design of the article relative to the connectivity between the rationale, the purpose of the inquiry and research problem were well aligned. The rationale presented the researcher’s intentions, goals, audience, participants, as well as how the research study contributes to the existing body of knowledge and research concerning diversity in leadership. For example, Pegues and Cunningham (2010) posit that neglecting differences in leadership style and effectiveness that result from leaders of different racioethnic and gender backgrounds has adverse effects on organizations having a multidimensional perspective of leadership.
Assessment of positionality
The article doesn’t express much that provides indication of the researcher’s positionality. The article mostly references other theories, research studies and observations relative to leadership diversity. However, the author does present some candid references from a Hispanic and Latino perspective that leaves readers with the impression that social context and setting is from a minority perspective. Moreover, relative to positionality, the external aspects of the research described by the researchers leads readers to assume the setting, context or experience influencing the direction and meaning of the research is from a Hispanic or Latino perspective. For example, Pegues and Cunningham (2010) expressed that many Latino managers and workers face particular dilemmas when they find that the values taught in their homes contradict what is expected in their workplace.

2- Classmate discussion
A brief statement of the purpose and primary research question the article addresses.
The purpose of this paper is to find out if integrity in a person makes a better leader. The article tries to discover on the relationship between leadership and integrity and relates it to the ethical leadership theory that states on public service values, ethical relationships, transformational leadership and leading with integrity.
An assessment of how thoroughly the research design was presented, including what was missing.
The research design is presented thoroughly in this article. In this study the author tries to find out if integrity alongside with moral values in a person would make a better leader. This would in the end make a better place to work and better people to work with. What is missing in the article is personal information about the author.
An assessment of the extent of the researcher’s presentation of positionality, reflexivity, and bias
The article does not state on the researcher’s positionality, and biases. There is reflexivity in the article. The author throughout the article tries to explore on ethics and ethics of leaders and comes to the conclusion that leaders are not judged on their integrity but on how well a leader performs the job.

Considerations in Designing a Qualitative Study
The article I chose for this discussion is “Creating the interviewer: identity work in the management research process” (Chassell, 2005). The article provides the identity dynamics from the perspective of management research. The research design in in line with the theoretical framework of research design. The introduction provides the problem statement and then provides the purpose of the research: This article focuses on an aspect of that process: the creation of interviewer identity (Chassell, 2005).
Research design is the overall approach to how a researcher (or research team) bridges and concepts with the development of research questions and the design of data collection methods and analysis for a specific study (Ravitch, Carl, 2016). Chassell begins the article by discussing the point of interest: the interview, in the beginning. The article addresses the critical theory and applies it to the research question. The article clearly addresses the interviewer from different perspectives and conveys this with the use of literature review.
Chassell provides the rationale for the study in the introduction of the article. The introduction provides the problem statement and addresses that the need for identification of the interviewer. Chassell defines her position in the article by identifying as adopting the position of constructivism and goes further by defining and providing literature review for social constructivism. Reflexivity exists through the research by using social constructivism and data collection to provide identity to the interviewer. Bias was reflected in the article, but did not show how it was addressed. Chassell discussed the issues of being a woman interviewing men in a male dominated setting, but did not address how bias was managed.
