1. Thinking versus Doing "seem to be the categories that form the educational landscape even now, and this entails two big errors. First, it assumes that all blue-collar work is as mindless as assembly line work, and second, that white collar work is still recognizably mental in character" (p. 31).

2. What are the two conditions under which white collar jobs can be off-shored, according to the experts cited on pages 33-36?
 


3. What does Crawford mean, and what are the causes of, a “rising sea of clerkdom” pgs 44-47? (please be clear here that for Crawford clerks are white-collar-jobs-in-name-only: poorly paid, little job security, in work most often requiring little thought or judgment, but which isn't the clerks' fault!)




4. Respond to the depiction of working at Best Buy: how does this fit or not fit your sense of what it’s like to work at a “Big Box” store (i.e, wholesale, inexpensive, bulk items).(p 47-52) PLEASE ALSO respond to Crawford's critical response to this depiction of working at Best Buy--he isn't buying it!




5. Re: our having “freedom from hope and fear” (52-53): why would this be a good thing? For what reasons does Crawford praise this?
