Air Pollution Research Paper Milestone One: Research Topic
Throughout this course, you will complete assignments that lead to a final project. In Unit VII, you will write a research paper on one air pollutant of your choice. The research paper will require a detailed discussion of the sources of the pollutant, the factors affecting its fate and transport, its health effects, its ecological effects, its engineering control measures, and its regulatory control measures.
For this first milestone, you will begin gathering the information you need to complete the research paper by first choosing a pollutant that interests you and then describing it per the instructions below.
To begin, use the link to the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) table and the Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP) table to review some possible pollutants to use as a research paper topic. You may choose one of the six criteria pollutants or a HAP of your choice. Once you have selected one pollutant, provide a two-paragraph summary about it and its sources.

The paragraphs should be at least one-half page in length and include in-text citations and references for your textbook. Be sure to format your in-text citations and references list in APA style.
