The institute becomes an essential component of our life. Several progenitors help their children to tend to college also become an accomplished education. Having a higher degree appears to be a need these days. It is particularly necessary to attend college to study and understand how time is hard. People are running to school for all variety of purposes. My parents continuously encourage me to do exceptional in my college time. They always want the greatest to me also have an excellent knowledge to achieve a comfortable life and career. In my culture, the parents will encourage you to have all well and great. They will accommodate you the best condition to get successful. One day they will not support themselves in this time the children will care about them so you necessity have a good job to supervise that. I have perpetually had on my mind that I want to become a mechanical engineer and get my parents impressive of me. Moreover, I never imagined that one day I would study abroad. Here I am in the United States of America on a full scholarship from my government (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). I always thought that college life would be much easier and less work, but is seems the opposite. One significant point that I did not demand college to be like that. My first language is Arabic, including I had to learn English. The lowest figure that I was concerned about is how far college from home. Institute life is a particularly significant period throughout our life.
The college experience seems quite different from the experience in high school. I expected college to be a clean slate, where I would explore the interest that I did not get the opportunity to explore when I was in high school. However, I have realized it is not all about staying in a social butterfly. In the real sense, being in college means meeting the expectations required in class. It means that one has to be independent and getting responsible for the actions one undertake.
One of the essential expectations, when one joins a college, is to stay motivated. It is very essential to have time management skills while in college. I realized that unlike in high school where I found it very hard to juggle the classes with clubs, sports and community services, in college, the co-curricular activities were just begging for my membership and participation. I found it essential to manage my time well to keep motivated. Being successful in college is beyond just passing the tests and handing the work in time, it calls for motivation. This will demand one’s time in some cases. Even if it involve procrastination of work in some instances, it is nice to stay motivated. As a college student, one has to think of his/her short and long-term goals.
As opposed to my initial version of college, studies where I thought it could be easy to skive classes and still be okay with it. It is the complete opposite. One has to be a regular attendant of the classes. I noticed that attending classes are an essential expectation at the college. Continuous skipping of classes means you would not even know of what part to keep up, therefore, leading to confusion. If an individual attends classes every day, you will understand what is expected of you, and the instructors shall have the better impression of who you are. Just as most of my peers believed it, I knew attending classes was enough for it all. I did not expect the large pieces of assignments thrown to us by the instructors. Keeping up with these assignments meant I had to comb the big library books to hand in my assignments in time. Rush time or late handing over the assignments would compromise the quality of the work, and the grades would surely suffer. I realized that the secrets of meeting these expectations were to get up early and go to classes. I have to get organized, plan for my tests and assignments while owning my time. Meeting the college-level expectations means I have to set high expectations for myself.
Students always face rough time when it reaches the time for evaluation tests to be done. It is an expectation from the students to get well prepared for their tests. The tests determine what the student has learned in his/her time in college. I discovered that adequate preparation for college exams not only boosts the scores in the exams but also gives confidence while taking the exams. Most students only attribute extensive reading to the High school learning. It is just the same case in College, and the students have to prepare well to get good grades in the tests. It is, therefore, important not only to prepare well for the tests but also for all graded works in time.
What did you assume college to be? Over the world, scholars have a complex expectation about college life. In my individual belief, since I got here to college I stayed very nervous, scared to fail in my college classes. First, I had to complete the English program then I will be qualified to tend college. That was very challenging to me but in the same way; I was very excited to learn the English language and complete my education with it. I was thinking how I could talk to the professors for the first time and how they might understand me easily. One of the students that I asked his name is Mike 23 years old. Student at Humboldt State University studying computer science. Mike says, “I expected the hard classes. A lot of homework and less time. Big classes with many students will make some difference in how you feel in the class. Most important thing I was nervous about was how to handle that, but it is a noticeable transition better that what I was suspecting”. Mike’s object is to have hard aspects with a lot of preparation in extremely compact time. Such is certainly accurate. Moreover, I completely agree with him since that what I continue facing in the college classes. It is tough to supervise all of these points without getting set for it. You need to take everything precariously since you do not need to lose.
While I am interviewing Ahmed, he declares, “College life is very certain knowledge to have it in your consciousness. I demanded college to be quite hard among a lot of stimulating around me particularly if you are far away from your homeland”. Another point, it is very challenging if you are studying college by your second language. I expect to possess a magnificent time, meeting new people, visiting new communities and flourishing in school. Holding a good education led you to have multiple job opportunities. My parents putt everything on me to come here to the United States and complete my education. I must be very carefully about everything that I do. They want me to be a very lucky person, and I will try to do everything that they want”. I strongly agree with him because I have the same situation. International students might have more complicated and hard expectation because the language and far away from hometown. I was not supposing that I would be studying here in the United States; it was tough to suspect college life in a quite far away country and in another language. However, it was easy transition and I really like it.
Different anticipation, while I am interviewing Isabela, a Brazilian student at Humboldt State University. She is 24 years old studying Biology. She says,” I expect college to be busy all the time. Strangely, the college experience is very different from high school. There will be a huge classroom, and I really feel nervous in large classes. However, there are some regular classes but with a lot of homework and assignments. My mom was always support me to have a higher education than high school to have a better life in the future. Freshman student I do not know many people over there I must make a real connection with the students encompassing me. I expected to converge cool people and having fun with them. I expect to have very strong experience from college life and understand to plan for your future. Obligation consumes the extra time of studying to doing exceptional in the institution”.
All students around the world have a different expectation. I was thinking it would be very hard with a lot of challenging. Isabela says,” I expect to be busy all the time”. It is very true that are some very hard classes and you must be ready to work very hard to achieve your goal. Managing your time is very good way to do all your work on time, that what was my dad told me when I was in high school. Having college life experience will make your life very easy place to live.
In conclusion, higher quality than a high school it seems critical at this time. The world shifted to a very hard situation to live without education. College career is implementing the best position to become a successful person in the future. Each family they encourage their children to complete their education to have a better life in the future. Some parents they do not have a good education, so they were not able to provide everything for their children. College life will give the students opportunities to study many subjects in general. People must taught this time to have a great job. Students are presuming that college life is hard and very challenging. However, it is the very smooth transition and magnificent experience to have it in your life.
