Thou Shalt Not Steal: Religious Ethics and Capitalism

Overview

The Interdisciplinary Paper is a formal academic research and writing assignment that is worth 150 points and due Thursday of Week 7. Papers should be 1500-2000 words (approximately 4-6 pages) in length.
Please post your topic for approval and/or feedback in the “Interdisciplinary Paper Topic Selection” discussion area below before Sunday of week 5.
Your instructor will approve the topic or provide feedback by the end of Week 5.
Students will utilize religious concepts and terms to demonstrate how religious beliefs affect everyday decisions in their chosen (or anticipated) occupation. Students may use their preference of APA or MLA (pick one and stick with it). It is strongly recommended that students submit their papers to Smart Thinking (Link in the Course Home menu) for proofing before submitting for a grade.  At the beginning of Week 7, students will be provided with a link to submit their papers to Turnitin.com, an anti-plagiarism site, prior to submitting their final draft to the Dropbox for grading (More will be said about this later in the form of an announcement.)

The paper should begin with an introduction in which a thesis is clearly stated that will provide the organizing theme for the structure and development of the paper.  Students should use headings and subheadings.  Neither APA nor MLA allows for first or second person.  This is a formal, academic paper, unlike your personal perspective paper. It should be writing in a proper academic style and include a minimum of five (5) credible sources (books, journal articles, government studies, etc.).

Sample Topics

Topics are open to the student. I encourage you to be creative and choose a topic that really interests you.  The main stipulation is that the paper's topic must relate to students' chosen or anticipated occupation and concepts expressed in this course.  In other words, for the topics below and any others that you might suggest, you need to connect the dots between your paper's subject and your chosen or anticipated occupation.  What is the relevancy for the occupation?  What are the implications of your research for your occupation?  This can be handled in a section near the end of your paper. Sample topics may include (these are only samples; you are free to suggest your own):

  1. Thou Shalt Not Steal: Religious Ethics and Capitalism
  2. A Biblical Ethic for the Banking Industry
  3. The role of religion in patient care.
  4. Self-Care and the Social Worker: Exploring Centering Techniques from Tai Chi and Yoga
  5. Incorporating Spirituality in Corporate America
  6. Confidentiality and Law: Expectations of Trust in Legal Ethics
  7. The First Amendment and the Classroom: Religious Education in the Public School System
  8. Rethinking the Tax-Exempt Status of Religious Organizations.
  9. The Chaplaincy in the 21st Century.

Should pit bull terriers be banned in my community

Discussion Forum: Counterarguments (Should pit bull terriers be banned in my community) You created a question about the topic for your W6 Rough Draft. For this discussion, you will give an answer to that question in the form of a thesis statement. "Dieting Makes People Fat" Main Post: Share your thesis statement with your classmates. Please note: As with last week’s discussion, nothing here is set in stone. Be open to changing everything about your topic, including your position and audience, as you research it and get feedback from your classmates. Topic + Position/Purpose + Supporting Points =Thesis Statement Example: Suppose the question you posed in the Week 5 discussion was something like, “Should pit bull terriers be banned in my community?” After doing some preliminary research, you have concluded that pit bulls, if raised properly, are no more dangerous than other breeds of dogs. Your thesis statement can be something like, “Pitbulls should not be banned

Controversy Associated With Dissociative Disorders

Assignment: Controversy Associated With Dissociative Disorders The  DSM-5-TR  is a diagnostic tool. It has evolved over the decades, as have the classifications and criteria within its pages. It is used not just for diagnosis, however, but also for billing, access to services, and legal cases. Not all practitioners are in agreement with the content and structure of the  DSM-5-TR , and dissociative disorders are one such area. These disorders can be difficult to distinguish and diagnose. There is also controversy in the field over the legitimacy of certain dissociative disorders, such as dissociative identity disorder, which was formerly called multiple personality disorder. In this Assignment, you will examine the controversy surrounding dissociative disorders. You will also explore clinical, ethical, and legal considerations pertinent to working with patients with these disorders.
