Part 2 Review the 12 Academic Language Functions in the “Academic Language Function Toolkit.” Based on your developing lesson plan, select three of the 12 academic language functions appropriate to your informational text selection. For each of the three selected language functions, draft 5 language frames (total of 15) and complete a corresponding graphic organizer (total of three). Write a 250-300 word rationale defending your choices. Our learning goal for this week: Plan instructional opportunities for students to learn, practice, and master academic language in their content. Start in the Course Materials for the links to these required resources. This Assignment has two parts; you will submit them as ONE file. Use the Topic 5 Academic Language Functions Template attached below. Part One: Find 3 examples of Academic Language Functions embedded in a Lesson Plan. Suggestions for this include YouTube, TeacherTube, and other educational sites as listed below. There must be three URL Links provided in the document along with your connection to the reading. Sources are required. For each of the three selected language functions, draft 5 language frames. These language frames will be used as discussion starters/sentence starters for your academic language part of your instruction. You must have 15 total. Last, create a graphic organizer for each of the Academic Language Functions you selected. Use the Tables and open areas in the Template provided (see attachment). The rubric for this assignment is electronic; you can view it in the Topic 5 Loud Cloud drop-box folder. It is important that you begin now to review the Rubric as you complete your assignments. The Rubric shows exactly what I must grade. Find the Rubric in the upper-right hand corner of the Assignment Details.
