Based on your experience and the core themes presented in
Environmental and Cultural Heritage Management (THT3111) and using other relevant examples (including cases presented in class), evaluate Kakadu National Park according to the following questions:
1. Critically analyse the sustainability principles of cultural heritage management (CHM) and the impact of climate change within Kakadu National Park
2. Discuss cultural heritage management (CHM) principles and practices at the cultural heritage sites at Kakadu National Park in context to stakeholder management and sustainable strategies and how the process has been or could be applied to these sites
3. Identify and analyse the problems occurring at Kakadu’s culturalheritage sites and the National Park’s commitment towards stakeholder management and sustainability
4. Analyse issues and trends regarding the role of the public, private and informational sectors in environmental and cultural tourism initiatives with specific focus on Intangible cultural heritage management (ICHM)
5. Recommend solutions to obtain sustainable results for improvements to existing and/or introduction of new sustainability strategies.
These questions are required to be included in a report format (see requirements below). Marking criteria is detailed in the marking rubric (see Subject Guide).
Requirements: A written report of 2, 000 words (excluding appendices):
The criteria for the assessment task are provided in the marking rubric and detailed below:
1. Critical analysis of Kakadu National Park and application of sustainability principles and impact of climate change at its cultural sites
2. Investigate the problems occurring at a specific cultural-heritage site and commitment towards improving stakeholder management and sustainability
3. Integrates knowledge to analyse issues and trends regarding the role of the public, private and informational sectors in Environmental and Cultural Tourism Initiatives
4. Applies appropriate cultural management tools in context to stakeholder management and sustainable strategies
5. Recommend improvements to the stakeholders management and appropriate changes to existing sustainability strategies or introduction to new ones
6. Recommend logical and rational solutions to obtain sustainable results
Reports should:
• consist of approximately 2,000 words (acceptable margin is 5%) • submitted in 12 point Times New Roman font, at 1.5 line spacing, • paragraphs to be fully justified.
• All material uses language which is appropriate to an academic report, is clearly and succinctly written and applies APA referencing style.
• The report is written professionally (e.g. spelling and grammar is checked, and attention is given to formatting, layout, use of headings and use of graphs and tables).

Task 3 is ‘time constrained’ and must be completed and uploaded via Turnitin at the Assessment 3 dropbox by 20th June, 2018 at 11.55pm. Late Submissions will not be accepted without approved Special Consideration.
The Completed Assessment must be uploaded via Turnitin. Submissions via hard-copy and/or email will not be accepted.

REPORT STRUCTURE (see Template provided on LMS)
Students are required to base their report on the Report Structure as indicated below.
o Title Page with the student’s name and number, the subject code and title, the name of the lecturer/tutor, and the title of the assessment;
Executive Summary which includes the main findings and recommendations of the report
o Table of Contents with section numbers, section titles/headings (see below for guidance) and page numbers;
o Introduction that provides an overview of the theme(s) of the report and its content;
o The Main Body of the report in sections, which should include the following elements relating to Kakadu National Park:
o Overview of ownership, stakeholders and the current stage of relationship between cultural heritage and tourism management at the site
o Critical analysis of current sustainability principles of cultural heritage management
(CHM) and the impact of climate change within Kakadu National Park o Discuss cultural heritage management (CHM) principles and practices at Kakadu National Park in context to stakeholder management and sustainable strategies and how the process has been or could be applied to these sites
o Identify and analyse the problems occurring at Kakadu National Park cultural heritage sites and its commitment towards stakeholder management and sustainability
o Analyse issues and trends regarding the role of the public, private and informational sectors in environmental and cultural tourism initiatives with specific focus on intangible cultural heritage management (ICHM)
o Recommendation solutions to obtain sustainable results for improvements to existing and /or introduction of new sustainability strategies
o Conclusion, which summarises the main findings of the report and identifies implications or recommendations (challenges/opportunities) arising from the discussion;
o Reference List and in-text referencing in APA Referencing Style with a minimum of four (4) sources: a minimum of two (2), academic journal articles and/or texts (e.g. the prescribed texts) AND two (2) government sources or relevant media sources (e.g. newspaper articles, trade publications) to support your discussion; and o Relevant Appendices (e.g. charts, graphs, maps). o Professional report format free of spelling and grammar mistakes.
