Why? To share a personal experience and the insight gained and/or lesson learned.
Length: 2-3 minutes (400-500 words)

Part 1:
Step 1: Choose a topic.  What do you do if you don’t have a personal story that imparts insight or a lesson you’ve learned?  You can create one. J Remember, narratives can be fiction or nonfiction.
Step 2: Use the outline below to help you complete your speech. Turn in your final draft to the drop box
I. Introduction
A. Attention Getter: a sentence or two to pique the listener’s interest
B. Relate to your Audience
C. Thesis: explain what your speech is about/what lesson you want your listeners to learn after hearing your speech
II. Body
This is where you tell your story.  The length of this section will vary depending on your topic and the length of your speech.  Generally, this will be about 8-10 sentences.
III. Conclusion
A. Wrap it up
B. Summarize the main point you want the listener to get from your speech.  Come back to the Thesis in your introduction and restate
C. Close with an important statement that leaves your listeners with the point you want them to remember
