Assignment 2 – SUPERHERO KSAO’s
In Chapter 4 of your materials there is information regarding KSAO’s. There is a description of what is meant by “knowledge”, “skills”, “abilities” and “other characteristics”. Please review the course info on KSAO\'s .
This is a short, assignment that will help you think about KSAO’s from a broad perspective.
Here\'s your mission: 1. Pick a SUPERHERO and describe this superhero. (It might be helpful to pretend you are describing this superhero to a grade schooler.)
[Note: If your Superhero is not a common one ( i.e. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Robin Hood, Spiderman, etc.) - please indicate where I might find out more information, so I can do a little research on my own.] 2. State what you believe the mandatory KSAO\'s are for this superhero position (for success in this particular position). Describe the KSAO and why it relates to your particular superhero
Identify each item that you list as K, S, A, or O and include no less than 3-K, 3-S, 3-A, and 1-O.
Hint: Be sure they relate to the Superhero position you are describing (not a Superhero in general).
Be Creative and think about what makes an ordinary person able to successfully fill the job of your Superhero.
Your text mentions (on Page 97) the Occupational Information Network, O*Net.
The O*NET program is the nation\'s primary source of occupational information. Central to the project is the O*NET database, containing information on hundreds of standardized and occupation-specific descriptors. The database, which is available to the public at no cost, is continually updated by surveying a broad range of workers from each occupation. Information from this database forms the heart of O*NET OnLine, an interactive application for exploring and searching occupations. The database also provides the basis for our Career Exploration Tools, a set of valuable assessment instruments for workers and students looking to find or change careers.
I am attaching (as a separate file) more detailed information from O*Net. It provides more context on KSAOs. You can also access the information at www.onetcenter.org
